Abstract

The management practice is widely researched in normative studies. They summarize the manager role into some activities that leads the manager to success. However, the management of an organization should not be treated as a group of pre-established activities. Managerial work is extremely contingency and changes according to the organizational context. It increases the relevance of studies that describe the daily managerial practice. So, this study aims to describe the managerial activity in a military organization, according to the perceptions of a Public Tender Manager and his contributors. To reach this objective, it is used a qualitative methodology. It was conducted nine ethnographic interviews, which made possible to describe the daily routine guided by the manager in order to achieve better results. Thus, this work describes the public tender manager’s actions to improve the routine in his job sector, promoting a successful changing in his contributors and in the organization in order to get a high level of productivity and reducing the errors.
