Abstract

The article discusses the evolution of the Air Defense and Air Traffic Control System (SISDACTA) in Brazil, highlighting its strategic importance for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB). Initiated in 1968 under the leadership of the Minister of Aeronautics, Brig. Gen. Márcio de Souza Mello, SISDACTA was designed to modernize air traffic control and air defense in the country. The project involved collaboration with international companies, such as Thomson-CSF, and resulted in the creation of an integrated system that significantly improved the safety and efficiency of air operations. The article also mentions the importance of strategic thinkers and the need for a national aeronautical industry to support these initiatives.
