Abstract

The article discusses the importance of empathy in heterogeneous groups, particularly in contexts of collaboration between civilians and military personnel, as observed in the Brazilian Superior War School (ESG). Empathy is defined as the ability to put oneself in another's shoes, which is essential for understanding and effective communication in diverse teams. The author highlights that during World War II, a lack of empathy led to relationship difficulties among allies, emphasizing that the security and development of a nation depend on mutual collaboration across different sectors of society.
