Abstract

The article describes the AL-X Project, a Brazilian Air Force initiative to develop a new light attack aircraft. Identifying the need in 1992, the FAB established preliminary operational requirements for the aircraft, aiming to meet close air support, interdiction, and interception missions in challenging regions such as the Amazon. The project involved collaboration with the Aerospace Technical Center (CTA) and Embraer, resulting in the signing of development contracts and modifications to existing aircraft. The AL-X was designed to have high autonomy, use national resources, and meet the operational needs of the FAB, especially in the Amazon region.
