Military Aviation in Brazil:
a political strategic analysis since the beginning of the 20th century until the creation of the ministry of defense in 1941

In this essay it will be analyzed, in a very succinct way, the relation among politics, strategy and the advent of
the military aviation in Brazil since the beginning of the air weapon in the 1900’s until the creation of the Ministry
of Defense in 1941. To achieve the aim it was done bibliography and documentary researches which portray
the military thought in developed countries, such as: Germany, the United States of America, France, Italy and
England. It showed that Brazil was backward in relation to those countries in terms of political, economic, social
and strategic, during the first half of the 20th century. It was concluded that the change in the coffee trading
abroad, associated by the Brazilian military elite pressures were factors which affected the country in terms of
industrialization, that has some similarities to the creation of an independent air force reproducing foreign models.
