Niccolò Machiavelli became one of the most celebrated and studied Renaissance thinkers that made the advent of the modern Era possible. However, even if his most famous work is the book The Prince, other works also bring strong relevance over his TrailBlazer bias. The present paper is intended to demonstrate that his contribution goes beyond the political thresholds, also bringing innovations in the strategic area and the use of force by the instituted power. This study is based on all of the most well-known works of the Florentine (The Prince, Discourses on the first decade of Tito Lívio and The art of war), combining and confronting this bias to subsidize the highlighting of which areas of strategic thinking he addressed. It is therefore intended to present its contribution in the formulation of rules that, only long after, founded new advances of the western strategic thought. On the other hand, it is also intended to show, by means of a critical approach, the paths indicated by it that have turned out to be unpromising to this day.
