Abstract

The war in Afghanistan, which began with the Soviet invasion in 1979, marks a significant chapter in the struggle for Afghan independence. The resistance, led by the Mujahedin, quickly organized, using Islamic faith and the desire for freedom as motivators. Despite Soviet military superiority, Afghan forces demonstrated courage and persistence, facing significant challenges such as devastating airstrikes and resource scarcity. The international community, particularly the United States and Arab countries, supported the resistance, while the Soviet Union sought to neutralize the conflict through political and military strategies. The war lasted over seven years, revealing the determination of the Afghan people to fight for their sovereignty.
