Abstract

The article discusses the importance of Psychology in the prevention of aviation accidents, highlighting that human error is one of the main contributing factors to these incidents. The psychologist's role is crucial in creating conditions that favor safe interactions during flight activities. Human performance is influenced by psychological variables, including individual, psychosocial, and organizational aspects. Therefore, Psychology plays a vital role in flight safety, especially in the current context of Brazilian military aviation. The Air Command (COMAER) has been tirelessly seeking to improve safety indices, recognizing that technological advancement alone is insufficient. A deep understanding of human behavior and its limitations is necessary. The allocation of psychologists in Air Units is essential to reduce the negative influence of psychological factors on accident occurrence. The article concludes that the contribution of Psychology is broad and can help establish an effective accident prevention policy, aiming for the ideal of "zero accidents."
