Abstract

The article discusses the importance of investigating aviation accidents and the need for a new methodology to enhance flight safety in Brazil. Since the establishment of the Flight Accident Investigation and Prevention System (SIPAER) in 1971, the country has sought to reduce the number of accidents through systematic investigations. The text highlights that aviation is a complex activity involving various factors that can contribute to accidents, classified into human, operational, and material groups.

The proposal for a new methodology aims to integrate research from different areas related to aviation, allowing for a more comprehensive and effective analysis. The article emphasizes that the adoption of appropriate methods is essential for success in accident prevention, and that collaboration between regulatory bodies and the industry is crucial to ensure safety. Furthermore, it mentions that implementing this new approach could lead to international recognition of Brazil as a leader in air transport safety. The conclusion underscores that, despite advancements, there are still shortcomings that need to be addressed to continuously improve safety in civil aviation.
