Abstract

This article aims to carry out a historical flyover over the early years at Brigadier Newton Braga College, a school institution that is part of the set of assistance schools linked to the Air Force Command and teaches from the 1st year of elementary school
(literacy) to high school. Initially, some data on assistance schools will be addressed, described in the Internal Regulations of these institutions, where we point out the purpose and mission for which they are intended. Then, it highlights the importance of
studies and research aimed at school institutions, as well as the changes that took place in the scope of
historical research. We spoke with Paolo Nosella and Esther Buffa (2009), researchers in the area, who study school institutions and ensure that this type of study has been significantly expanded, especially in
the context of the History of Education. In the specific case of this article, it was decided to bring in more
detail the history of the early years, presenting the various peculiarities that involve teaching aimed at children, considered by the school community to be of quality. The conceptions presented in this article were based on approaches from the School of the Annales, by Marc Bloch and Lucien Febvre (1977), with the so-called New History, of French origin, pointing out how important it is to develop studies focused on the particular, while glimpse what happens in general, making history a living and dynamic science.
