The article discusses the controversy over flight primacy between Santos Dumont and the Wright brothers. In 1906, Santos Dumont made a 60-meter flight with the "14 BIS," gaining widespread recognition in France and worldwide. The Wright brothers, who flew in 1903, did not immediately claim primacy but expressed interest in Dumont's experiments. Correspondence between Wilbur Wright and Captain Ferber reveals the brothers' curiosity about Dumont's innovations, highlighting the importance of both in aviation history. The article concludes that despite disputes, Santos Dumont's contributions to aviation are undeniable and deserve celebration.
