Abstract

The article "Professional Soldier in the Aeronautics" discusses the importance of the soldier as the foundation of the military structure, especially in the Brazilian Air Force (FAB). Through humorous accounts and unusual situations, the author emphasizes that while the focus is often on pilots and officers, the effectiveness of air operations heavily relies on the training and competence of soldiers. The text mentions the historical evolution of the soldier's role, from primitive tribes to modern Nation-States, and criticizes the inefficiency observed in past conflicts, where many soldiers did not fire their weapons without orders. The author suggests that the training and retention of soldiers should be rethought to ensure the safety of air bases and the effectiveness of missions. The article concludes that for a modern and professional armed force, it is essential to address the flaws in the current recruitment and training system.
