The article examines the contributions of Santos Dumont and the Wright brothers to aviation, highlighting the importance of Otto Lilienthal as a precursor. Santos Dumont, born in Brazil, is recognized as the patron of national aviation, while the Wright brothers are celebrated in the United States. The author argues that the evolution of aviation is not due to a single inventor but to a collection of innovations and discoveries, particularly in aerodynamics, which were fundamental to the development of aircraft. Lilienthal's work, in particular, is emphasized for its theories on wing curvature, which significantly influenced airplane design. The text concludes that while many have contributed to flight, it is essential to recognize and value each of these pioneers.
